Rescue Organizations

IMG_0497_new Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Stock the Barn Fundraiser that the Kentucky Equine Humane Center puts on every year to raise money for their organization. The Kentucky Equine Humane Center is unique compared to that of many other rescue organizations in central Kentucky in that they are not focused on only rescuing thoroughbreds off the track. They accept any equine, which gives them a unique niche in this area of the country. After spending time at this event, it is very clear to me how passionate so many people are in the equine industry about the betterment of all horses’ lives. Horse professionals have a responsibility to these animals who bring us so much joy and often times our pay checks. Having organizations that help to re-purpose and find homes for horses that need them are vital in keeping the equine industry thriving. If you simply think about all the stories of horses that have been re-purposed and what the alternatives could have been for them had rescue organizations not stepped in to provide this service, should make you have a great sense of gratitude and appreciation for what these people do for the industry. Most horses can have a unique job and purpose to serve. Whether that is going on to compete in competitions to being someone’s prized trail companion, rescue horses have a great deal to offer. I’m sure most owners, trainers, and breeders can attest to the horse being an incredibly diverse animal that can serve in so many different purposes and areas of the equine industry. These rescue organizations rely on many people for the various need these horses have and the general up keep of their facilities. If not for the donors, volunteers, and dedicated employees, then these horses would not get the care that they need. So much health care goes into rehabilitating these rescues and the dedicated professionals that handle the tasks required to get these horses healthy again deserve large amounts of praise. These people are such hard working individuals who are not afraid of long hours and manual labor to ensure that these horses receive the care they deserve. Excel Equine® is honored to be supplying the Kentucky Humane Center with their feed and to have the opportunity to supply these horses with the quality nutrition that they need.
